The charm of this music is that it can be performed in a stripped down manner for the streets as heard on tracks 5-11 or in an larger ensemble of three varying sized siters performed here by a larger group. Tracks 5-9 capture an infamous street musician couple that has been roaming the side streets of Yogykarta singing and playing for decades. They carry with them a homemade siter made from the ubiquitous jackfruit tree and strung by motorcycle brake cables! They may also carry a makeshift gong (an open ended wooden box with a large suspended metal key), a small drum, and of course, love for each others voices.

     Also on this album, to provide an in-depth hearing of the genre, are four tracks of a classically studied version of the same style of music. These tracks feature three differently sized zithers. Each zither contributes a specific part in its particular octave to create complex, yet unified and enchanting music.
